Acts 2:42-47: This passage describes the activities of the early church, which serve as a model for the every church's mission. They were devoted to:
Teaching: "the apostles' teaching" (proclaiming and preserving the truth of the Gospel).
Fellowship: "the fellowship" (loving and caring for one another).
Worship: "the breaking of bread and the prayers" (corporate worship and communion).
Evangelism: "And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved." (sharing the Gospel with the lost).
Shortly after I accepted God's call to serve Harvest Community Church, I joined a journey the church had already begun. This adventure forced the church to self reflect, make adjustments, and redefine its purpose. As with any transition, there were those who determined they were called elsewhere. Others solidified their commitment to stay and serve wherever or however God would use them. Through this time of change, our church family engaged in meaningful conversations about our identity, our strengths, areas for improvement, and our purpose within the town of Olathe. All the while, God continued to shape and form that which He needed to in me so I could lead out in a new mission and vision for our church.
It is with great anticipation and excitement that the new mission and vision for our church is ready to be shared and implemented with the whole of our church family. Starting this Sunday, I will preach a four part sermon series introducing and unpacking the new mission of Harvest Community Church. To mark this significant milestone, our leadership team has adopted a new brand identity, which includes new logos, website design, and other graphical updates that reflect our renewed purpose.
I encourage you to join us this and the following Sundays so you can hear more about the heading our church is taking and see where you have a part.
